About us

Our History
The Specialist Medical Resources Foundation was founded in 2013 by Tony Burns, Angela Boulton, Jolene Green, Sophie McKellar, Josh McKellar, Jade Boulton and Donna McPherson, with a simple and singular mission - to raise money to benefit our community through the provision of vital, life changing medical equipment and support for Riverina residents. 

How we help

It would be great to think that living in the country we have the same medical resources and treatments available to us, as those do living in metropolitan areas, unfortunately this just isn’t the case. Living in regional NSW the reality is that emergency treatment or specialist medical equipment is often hours away.

Federal and State Government funding for medical services is stretched across our country, this means that not all areas are provided with state of the art technology and medical equipment. As a result, Doctors, nurses and medical practitioners, in some emergency situations are unable to fully care for the patient requiring them to be transferred to hospitals in larger cities. Not only are situations like these traumatic for the patient and their loved ones, there is a huge financial burden placed upon the family while they are away caring for their loved one. Not to mention the potential costs for after care, and in home treatment. The other side to what we do, is provide people of all ages with medical conditions with equipment and aids to improve their quality of life.
That’s where the Specialist Medical Resources Foundation steps in. We are dedicated to funding medical equipment to better the Riverina, and to equip those in extra-ordinary circumstances with the funding they require to help them improve their quality of life.

The Specifics of who we help

The Specialist Medical Resources Foundation is designed to assist anything in the ‘specialist medical emergency’ category. If you’re not sure if this is you, have a look at the list below. If you’re still unsure, please contact the SMRF office to discuss your situation.
  • Provision of non-Government funded emergency medical equipment
  • Upgrade of non-Government funded emergency medical equipment
  • Specialist medical machinery to better assist treatment
  • Medical equipment to improve the healing process
  • Provision of in home specialist medical equipment for patients who were taken critically ill or injured
